The Elves

“Let them feel the fire they thought they could burn us with,”
-Inor, pyromancer of Hiiziik.

Long ago the elves were a proud and long lived species that populated the woodlands of Yskander. Now they are but ashes of their former selves; cursed with mortality, their forests burned, their beauty scarred.

Most elves bear a strong hatred against humans who consider them to be “Immortal abominations”, they don’t really get along with dwarves, and have frequent trade with the Efreeti.

Elven society used to be ruled by the dragon Yskandrean and his council of twelve appointed elders; but nowadays the great elven nation has fallen apart into multiple smaller ones. These smaller nations are ruled in varying ways and have a defensive pact shared between most of them.

What sets the elves apart from the other species of Idama is their willingness to deal with demons. Ever since the great demonic invasion of the dark ages multiple elven lands and demonic houses have worked together; perhaps the greatest development that came of this alliance are the dreaded automaton. With the help of secret demonic rites the elves have learned how to summon the souls of their ancestors and bind them into metal shells. Armed with swords and pistols, these semi-mechanical soldiers know no fear; only vengeance against man.

Part 2 of the Species of Idama series, the next one will probably be about the dwarves.

I will probably also do a lore snippet about the burning of the elven woodlands one day, but I first want to get the main species done befor I move on to specific events.

May the Powers guide thy way to enlightenment,
