Ghouls...
*GHOUL NOISES*
-Ghoul.
Horrible creatures dwelling in abandoned cemeteries and other forgotten places, ghouls are what happens when a demonic presence decides to inhabit a corpse. Their appearance is how a long dead body is supposed to look… just a bit more animate, though the longer a ghoul remains in existence, the more demonic features (e.g. bat-like nose, sharp fangs, claws etc.) its appearance starts to take.
Lone ghouls aren’t that much of a threat, they simply wander around the wilderness feeding off easy prey (usually small mammals, though the occasional unarmed traveler might also be on the menu) at night and bury themselves to rest during the day. Larger groups of ghouls (also known as ghoulish colonies), on the other hand, usually are a bit more daring in their hunts; capable of going after human prey and sometimes even (under-guarded) small settlements.
The only times ghouls can be really problematic is during a time of war, as on the battlefield there usually is no time to perform the proper rituals when someone dies; demons know this and as such ghouls start to rise rapidly when armies are met with the forces of Pandaemonium.
Spooky season... so that means ghouls!
These guys are like the standard undead fodder enemies of my setting :D
